The filtration serves the mechanical cleaning of the swimming pool water. They remove visible and almost visible soiling, including the flocks created by addition of the flocculant with the fine particles trapped in them. Flocculation supports the precipitation of these fine turbid substances before the water is filtered.
Specific requirements apply to filtration performed in swimming and wading pools, with which the operating company should comply in their own interest. We recommend using fast filters working in accordance with DIN 19605; only filter sand in accordance with DIN EN 12904 should be used. The filter layer in single-layer filters should be a minimum of 1.2 m and the maximum filtration speed is 30 m/h in accordance with DIN 19643 (closed fast filters). Higher speeds can be possible in some cases; increasing speeds lead to a decreasing filtration outcome. The filtration conditions are to be adapted accordingly for filters using other filter materials in combination with sand (e.g. anthracite coal, filter coke, pumice/lava, activated carbon). The filter systems must be flushed regularly, at least once a week.
The volume flow for filtration is calculated in accordance with the standard technical rules, for example in accordance with DIN 19643-1.
